SEARCH / FIELD NOTES

How do you prepare a business website for AI search?

Publish clear information people can check, and make the pages accessible to search engines.

Make the business easy to understand.

State the business name, offer, contact route and area served consistently. Develop useful answers to questions about scope, preparation, price factors and the next step. Identify who is responsible for the content.

Describe the actual business. Evidence, accurate project attribution and clear terms give readers something to inspect. Avoid invented offices, unsupported superlatives and promises about results you cannot control.

Keep important information in readable pages.

Google recommends making important content available as text, using internal links and ensuring pages can be crawled. A service explanation should remain accessible without depending on an animation or a private tool result.

Use descriptive page titles and headings. Check canonical addresses, sitemap entries and unintended robots restrictions. Structured data should describe information that the visitor can see on the page.

Use the established search foundations.

Google states that the same SEO practices remain relevant to AI Overviews and AI Mode. It does not require a special AI text file or a separate kind of schema for inclusion. Indexing and appearance are not guaranteed.

Treat any machine-readable directory as supporting documentation. Useful answers, clear sources and a maintained website are the work the business can actually control.

Measure what can be observed.

Use authorised search reports and website data to review discovery and enquiries. Keep the reporting period, definitions and gaps visible. A launch checklist proves that work was checked; it cannot prove future citations or sales.

Review content when services, prices or platform requirements change. Add new answers where genuine customer questions reveal a gap. That creates a maintenance process tied to the business rather than a one-time claim of optimisation.
